The successful diet and unsuccessful diet The term diet is most commonly used word today and there are many people who are into some diet programs or the other. There are different types of diet and most of the time the diet plans are followed in order to gain good health and well being. It needs to be understood that not all of the diets turns out to be reliable and good for the body and health. Diet is about taking a selected food item on a regular basis in order to gain good health and fitness. Diets are also followed for different purpose. There are people who follow diet for losing weight or to regain their lost energy and the list is endless. Food is the most essential component for a healthy body and one needs to pay a great amount of care and attention over the food items and diets that they take on a regular basis. Researches and studies have shown diet to be having greater impact on the physical and psychological level of a person. Many people who have gone on a strict diet by having only a select food items over a period have found to have achieved the purpose which may be weight loss, gain or any other such purpose. It is to be noted that consuming certain types of food may not suit one’s body and brings in adverse results. Thus, food is something that requires a higher level of caution and attention. Diet programs can be defined as a food plan with certain requirements, specifically targeting certain type of food which also includes excluding specific type of food as well. It could also be termed as a certain option of eating and drinking which includes the amount and time calculations. Diet is also taken for therapeutic purposes as well. When it comes to diet, it should be noted that not all of the diet plans turns out to be reliable and successful. There are certain diet plans that does not provide with the necessary results and are unsuccessful. There are no hard or fast rules as to how a diet should be. There are some diet forms that are require carbohydrate free consumptions and there some other diets like the protein based ones. Not all of the diet forms are balanced and provides with the required results and this clearly marks the existence of both successful as well as unsuccessful diets on the whole. When it comes to following successful diet programs, certain factors needs to be paid attention to. “A diet can be successful even if a person fails to reach some idealized weight goal. Individual circumstances, dieting history, age, ethnic heritage, physical limitations, medication use, psychological factors, and so on, ought to be taken into account so that realistic expectations and practical strategies can be formulated.” (Carlson, Eisenstat, Ziporyn, 2004). One of the most important facts to understand is that diet has a close correlation with the body system which a person has inherited from ancestors. There are some people who are oversensitive to cholesterol based food and there are some people who get diabetes at a much earlier age than expected. All these can be attributed to the genes and the passing over of the specific health condition for generations together. In such cases, a particular diet form which has been successful on normal conditions and people will turn out to be unsuccessful. Thus, the success or failure of a particular diet programs also depends on the genetic condition of the consumer. “The person who inherits genes that interfere with normal processing of cholesterol, for example, may be little affected by this limitation until he or she regularly consumes a high fat diet.” (Jeffrey and Benum, 2000) There could be no exact distinction made for successful or unsuccessful diet as such. It all depends upon the suitability of the diet to a particular person, the genetic characteristics, allergic conditions with which the person suffers from, likings and such other aspects. “I know now that I really have no idea what day-to-day life is like for a family with a child on the ketogenic diet and that success on the diet can only be achieved through the collaboration of a knowledgeable neurologist, a flexible dietician, and most importantly, a dedicated parent/guardian.” (Martenz, Cramp, 2011). A diet could be declared unsuccessful, if had not contributed anything for the achievement of a specific purpose, mostly health, fitness and weight loss. It should be understood that there should be a constant shift in the course of diet. If a person starts having a particular diet form, say for instance, vegetables only, the body system of the person gets used to it and when the person deviates from the diet program which has been followed for several years together, issues arises. This is a clear indicator of the fact that a person should have a variety of food items at a go instead of restricting oneself to a particular diet plan. Success in the diet includes the fact that it should not hamper the health of the person and should only promote for the betterment of the health and fitness front. There are some blatant food consumption mistakes like taking highly processed food item, consuming food items that are high in carbohydrates and also taking some minerals more than the required levels. Taking food items like that of unprocessed protein, fruits and vegetables bring in the good results but there should be a proper balance in having them as well when taken on a regular basis. Maintaining good health of absolutely necessary to have a long and fulfilling life and there are many innovative methods employed in order to achieve good health through proper diet (Laporte, 2012). It is always best to go with the suggestion of a nutritionist who will customize the diet plan based on the needs and requirements of a person. If one wants to gain weight, then the diet plan will be such that to support the weight gain for the particular body system and if it is for weight loss then the diet program will be personalized for that particular need. It also needs to be noted that these diet plans are given to the person only after a thorough check up is made and knowing the reliability and suitability about the specific diet plan for the person. Thus, the success levels and the failure levels of a specific diet program also depend on whether expert opinion and guidance is sought in this regard or not. The California Dietetic Association Dietitian 2011 is an organization that helps people make informed decisions about diets and lead a healthy lifestyle. There are many people who go for diet plan on their own without seeking the direction of an expert in this regard and this kind of course will not provide with the necessary results. On the contrary, it may lead to negative or adverse reactions over the consumers. There could be no denial of the fact that food forms the basis for the entire body and taking it the wrong way can cause irreparable damage to the body parts and system. When sought the help of a dietician, a complete check over the person’s body condition is made before a specific diet plan is provided. If the protein levels in the person are found to be below the requirement mark, then the diet plan will include more protein. A proper diet plan should access the body condition of a person in a thorough manner and direct the person towards a specific diet form which the body of the person lacks and requires. The diet form should also be changed from time to time so that the person gets energy forms in the right proportion. Getting to know the different diet plans is good but one should follow it in an organized and proper manner. Adequate care and attention needs to be paid towards the smooth transition of the diet plan from one to that of another diet plan. A sudden or drastic step will not get along well with the body function and it should be made with appropriate care. The worst part about an unsuccessful diet is the fact that it will not only provide one with the required results but also causes a great deal of adverse reactions. There are many people who have come out with the truth that a particular diet plan which they were following has done more damage than good. This is something that needs to be paid much attention and many people are lagging behind only in this aspect. When they hear or see that somebody has attained a slimmer body or good body shape, they immediately jump into the idea that the specific diet plan which the person has been following will work wonders on them as well which is not a true fact. The diet plan which one has taken from the other may or may not work. Even if it does not work, it is fine but it is unbearable if it gets worse. This kind of scenario happens mostly when it comes to weight loss programs. “Countless men and women are saying the same thing about their weight. I learned from hundreds of people that they became fatter after each unsuccessful diet.” (Sommer 1987). It is always best to go with a proper direction and guidance when it comes to most crucial areas like diet and exercise. When taking a particular diet form, it is also necessary to add up that with an appropriate exercise plan as well. Only then the necessary results will be attained. The time and amount of food taken also matters a lot when it comes to diet. In one way, food can also be considered driving factor of life as it provides body the much needed minerals, vitamins and other such essential components. Without food, it is quite hard to imagine life and by taking food the right way one could even change the way that one gets to think and choose to live a peaceful life. Follow the food chart provided to the individual to get good results. On the whole, it could be concluded that there are both successful as well as unsuccessful diet forms available. If adequate care and attention is paid in the food front and the help of a dietician is sought then one could get to enjoy the chance of taking a successful diet and enjoy the fruits of it. Be it a diet for weight loss, gain, health and fitness, get the best diet plan for the particular body condition and follow them with full commitment in order to get the best result possible. Diet can definitely shape up one’s life for the better, if taken the right way.
