?Business Communications The term ‘media sensibility’ relates to the sensible manner of transmitting messages through the medium of media like televisions and radios. Sensible way of rendering messages focuses on making the information understandable and comprehensible to the target audience. Information rendered must be meaningful and targeted in nature such that it helps in the fulfillment of the objectives for which they are transmitted to the greater society comprising of the target audiences. Weissman observes that the efficacy of the program aired on television or radio can be learnt in the form of ratings and also other sources like mails or telephonic messages received from the end of the target audiences. In the same manner the power point presentations devised by the managers to transmit a potential business message to the target business audience also gains effectiveness in that the same contributes in development of business or in meeting objectives relating to profit and business growth. Thus the information transmitted whether through media or through power point presentations must indeed be sensible enough in meeting the information needs of the target audiences to help achieve the end objectives. Thus Jerry Weissman is definitely right in putting the statement ‘media sensibility applied to business community’. Thus a power point presentation created by a business community needs to follow or satisfy certain salient points in order to become sensible in its approach. Here the power point presentation is to be considered as a potential medium like the broadcasting programs aired on television or radio through which the right and effective message needs to be conveyed to the target audience. Firstly the presentation must be prepared to render points in a clarified fashion to help the audience get a clear understanding of the message that is needed to be conveyed. Secondly apart from having clear points of view the presentation must also have clear benefits or positive attributes such that it contributes in the development of the present business situation. Thirdly it must be kept in mid by the presenter that the information need to possess a clear flow or structure to help the target audience grab the sequence of the information flow. Overlapping or leap in the flow of the information renders confusion to the information processing function and thereby distorts the meaning of the message conveyed. Similarly in the fourth case the power point presentation must not contain information that is irrelevant or excess in nature. Rather information rendered must be effectively evaluated as such that contributes in meeting the information objectives of the end recipient. Finally the information rendered through the power point medium must not be over exhaustive. Rather the length of the message must be cut short to reduce the element of boredom relating to the end recipients. These things kept in mind would contribute in enhancing the efficacy of the power point presentations in acting as a potential medium for transmission of business messages to the target business audiences. Therefore an efficient presenter needs to effectively evaluate the information needs of the audiences and thereby streamline essential information to satisfy end needs and objectives (Weissman 1-10). The presenter while designing an effective power point presentation must endeavor to relate the concept and understandings of the different slides so as to convey a central meaning to the audiences. Each of the different slides presented tends to put in front of the recipients an entire new story or understanding. The recipient failing to relate the story or concepts presented in each of the different slides happens to gain significant confusion about the total presentation. This failure of the recipients in availing a central meaning distorts the level of understanding of the recipients and thereby causes the rise of perceptual differences among the participants. Participants or recipients in the power point presentation are thereby made bound to disturb the presenter by continually interrogating him or she to elucidate the underlying meaning or to use their own thinking process to formulate inferences from the information gained. Perceptual differences of each of the different recipients thereby distort the central meaning of the presentation thereby disturbing the data transmission activity to arrive at potential conclusions. Thus it is required of the presenter to reduce the element of thought relating to the recipients of the information rendered through the process of effectively navigating the attention of the participants along the information rendered by the different slides. However in that the presenter is required to achieve a required balance between creation of thumbnails and in the endeavor of making the target audience understand the effective meaning of the presentation rendered. Firstly the presenter is required to create a sequence between the different slides that tend to reflect the same meaning or concept. Secondly the presenter must present the slides reflecting an event in a chronological fashion to help in presenting a clear and lucid picture. Thirdly the understanding of the information rendered in the different slides can be enhanced through the process of relating such to physical contours. Similarly in the fourth case the presentation rendered in the slides can earn further effectiveness in that it contributes to rendering solutions to business problems related to the current company. Fifthly the information rendered in the slides can be effectively attributed to related theories and concepts that in turn would contribute in helping the participants gain an opportunity to learn. Sixthly the presentations can focus on drawing the attention of the recipients to different case studies wherein comparison between the activities of the company with other companies is presented. Presentation of such case studies contributes in narrowing down the understanding of the recipients wherein solutions are rendered to the fallacies that tend to emerge from the arguments gained. Seventhly the presenter is also required to give space to the recipients to present their different queries to the information rendered and then helping them in gaining needed solutions. The above process would evidently help the presenter in achieving the required balance between the activities related to persuasion and in enhancing the lucidity related to the contents delivered (Weissman 42-44). Again the presenter in the course of delivering the contents in the form of the power point presentations is required to sustain the same level of energy in the nth period that the presenter had reflected while delivering the contents for the first time. Absence of the required energy level relating to the presenter makes the matters more mundane on the part of the recipient. Thus like the actor on a stage the presenter must deliberately try to help make the presentation more attractive such that to help the recipients have the feeling of gaining the information for the first time. The phrase coined in by Weissman, “the illusion of the first time” reflects on the high amount of energy required in by the presenter to make the contents felt afresh by the target audiences. Apart from enhancing the spirit of the presentation the presenter is also required to significantly modify the contents of the presentation through the use of graphs and charts and also working on to enhance the narrative skills employed. Enhancement or modifications rendered in the contents would thereby help in attracting the interest of the recipients to the information delivered. The presenter in the endeavor to customize the presentation to meet the needs of the target audience is required to incorporate the name of the company, the name of the recipients and also can enhance the same by stating the venue where the presentation is being delivered. These processes would thereby contribute in enhancing the level of contemporariness in the content delivery process. The presenter in the course of designing the current power point presentation tends to gain more effectiveness than an actor on a stage. Wherein the actor has got limited rights in changing the pattern of contents or the delivery process the presenter of the slides gains exclusive rights in presenting current and factual data sets pertaining to the different slides involved. Through such process the usability of the information is gained by the recipients that in turn reduce the morbidity involved. Similarly other tactics can be incorporated by the presenter where the participants to the program can be encouraged to ask questions pertaining to the relevancy of the information delivered in rendering potential solutions to current problems. This strategy incorporated contributes in making the recipients understand the information delivery process as a key to problem-solving activities that in turn increases the level of interest of the people. From the above discussion it is clearly observed that Weissman requires the presenter to enhance the process of creating an illusion in the minds and eyes of the recipients more than that of an actor through the use of specific presentation strategies underlined above. This process of illusion created would contribute in enchanting the people to gain hold of the same information in a modified fashion in each of the different times when the presentation is held by the presenter through highlighting the point of utility involved (Weissman 184-186). The presenter to enhance the efficacy of the presentation is required to set the stage right in terms of effects rendered through lighting, sound, and projection equipments and also in terms of costume worn. Moreover presenter is also required to enhance the level of readiness through frequent intake of liquids and also through the proper allocation of pointers to enhance the process of information delivery. Similarly the presenter is also required to select the mode of amplifier depending on the level of personal tone and pitch. The presenter prior to the happening of the event is required to check and re-check the surroundings of the stage to contribute in the effective rendering of information to the target audience. Thus the presenter to gain the optimal amount of benefits requires customizing the stage for helping in the effective rendering of the presentation. Effective planning is required to be rendered from the presenter’s end in designing the stage with the best possible equipments and technology available such that the same assists in enhancing the effect of the performance. The presenter is required herein to fight with adverse conditions through the effective implementation of the plan devised in rightly procuring the instruments and resources needed to make the show an eventual success. Tuning, pitching, adding color and sound effects in an appropriate and optimal basis by the presenter finally contributes in delivering the best show possible. The presenter is thus required not to fear the emergence of adverse conditions but is rather required to change adversity into opportunities to finally win in the end. Shows or presentations were there where proper planning implemented by the performer or the presenter contributed in overcoming the adversities present and thereby in finally winning the end game. Such endeavors reflected on the part of the performer or presenter was rightly appraised by the audience present. Even at the outbreak of natural calamities like torrential rainfall the people in the crowd of an open political gathering were found to highly empathize with the endeavor of the political leader in generating a highly scintillating and forceful political speech. The pain undertaken by the political leader or the musical performer to reach the minds of each of the target audiences present in the form of sound effects amidst the presence of an open stage and bad weather conditions were largely empathized by one and all making such a meet a grand success. The above event clearly focuses on the point that the presentation rendered by the presenter tends to gain more value in terms of the rate of involvement of the presenter in making or transforming adverse conditions into seeming opportunities. Thus higher the level of involvement noticed or observed in by the recipients or the target audiences of the performer in setting the stage the higher is the degree of association gained in by the performer from the existing audiences (Weissman 235-236).
