The computer then shows the amount of each ingredient required, according to the cookies ordered. The information is sent to the storage silos where the ingredients are stored, afterwards, the ingredients are sent into a giant mixing machine where they are mixed in appropriate ratios. Then, the batter is poured into cutting machines, where individual cookies are cut. The cookies are sent to ovens, and flavoured cookies are further sent for additional steps.
Non-filled cookies are cut diagonally rather than straight-cut cookies as it takes less space. The cookies are sent to spiral cooling racks, after the racks they are placed in cookie boxes. The boxes are then sealed, wrapped and labelled.

Following are the two ways through which the company has increased its productivity. First, by cutting the cookies diagonally, since it takes less space, a larger amount can be placed in the ovens, and more cookies can be produced in less time. Second, when the company increased the size of the ovens that increased the amount of space available for the cookies in the oven. Which increased productivity as well!

Yes, the company is making the right decision by not automating the packaging process. By doing so the company has good quality control, by the fact that the destroyed cookies are not placed in the packages. And, the company is doing good for its society as well, providing job opportunities for unemployed people. The size of the company is a big factor, if it is a small company manual labour is better for the company because that would result in low costs. If it was a large company it would have had other fields for jobs and the automation of packaging would be a better option in that case.

Since the company makes cookies based on orders, they don't have a lot of ending inventory. Plus whatever is produced, they are shipped immediately so that they don't have to be stored on the shelves. Because of this policy, the company can minimize its storage and inventorial costs.

As a consumer, the following things I consider when I buy cookies in a supermarket:
Taste is one of the major factors that have to be considered when buying a cookie.
Originality, whether it is a copy of the original thing or a replica of it.
Health factors, whether the company uses preservatives or not.

The advantages that the company gets from not using preservatives in cookies are that they increase the health factors in their cookies which results in high customer demand. Because people would prefer health over anything and since the cookies offer good health factors people will buy them in bulk.
The limitations that the company gets from not using preservatives are, that the company has to sell the cookies immediately or it will result in the waste of the products. The life span of the cookies decreases, and might even be injurious to health later onwards.

Even though the company is a small-scale company operating on a low level, still it has been able to achieve high customer satisfaction because of its unique strategy. The company does not use additives or preservatives in its cookies which has helped them gain a good customer satisfaction level. Also, the cookies are produced accurately based on the orders, not randomly, this way the company can avoid wastage. The company avoids storing its inventory for a long period, the products are shipped immediately after production and in this way minimizing the costs.
