Nursing Nursing The four salient contributions made by the theorists of the field of nursing are the contributions made to the practice, knowledge, philosophy and research of nursing. The main reason due to which I believe that theorists have heavily contributed to these four sides of nursing science is because all these four elements of nursing are inter related with each other. In earlier times nursing was not given much importance in academic frontier, it was considered as a simple job that did not needed research and was thought to be carried out by any one.

Due to this perception of nursing, the profession was simply regarded as a profession that fits best to the female gender. This was because female gender was considered weak and inferior to the male gender. This even shows that nursing was supposed to be an inferior task and was not a job for the male gender. Nursing theorists and researchers figured out that knowledge of nursing was very important to nurses and the recognition of importance of knowledge was realized through the role played by knowledge in practice.

Since the importance of knowledge was realized, research was conducted to decrease the gap between knowledge and practice and theories were created to support the practical side of nursing and to help the students who have selected nursing as their profession. Nursing is said to be a major part of human sciences and due to this, theorists realized the importance of philosophy in the field of nursing.ReferencesMcCrae, N. (January 01, 2012). Whither nursing models? The value of nursing theory in the context of evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary health care.
