There are a number of motivation theories and concepts are common among the managers and job providers. Reinforcement theory is considered as widely accepted motivation theory which focused on what controls behavior. Reinforcement theory underlines that behavior is reinforced by external events.

Unlike, reinforcement theory, Equity theory describes that the level of motivation in an individual related to the perception of equity and fairness implemented by the management (Lesson:-20: Motivation and Its Theories). Both Reinforcement and Equity theories share some common features. Both of them underline the role of external events in providing motivation. It is logical that both employees and employers consider money as the basic incentive for satisfactory work performance (Houran & Kefgen).
