?Running head: INDABA: ONLINE MUSIC INDUSTRY 19th November Introduction Management team can resolve tension in a company and make it to achieve a long term vision. Individuals have different ways on how they view issues concerning the set goals of the organization. The different viewpoints can lead to tension or conflict, but a good management team should have the ability to handle such conflicts. Tension in the organization is not a bad thing but rather it’s healthy and constructive since tension will lead to highly functioning team that is ready to resolve any type of conflict in the organization. Management team will have to focus on challenges that may hinder the organization vision and mission, and make sure that members are open to them incase of differences. Management team should develop ways that can prevent tension in the organization since if it last for long it will lead to failure of organization goals. This paper discusses how Indaba as a music industry can achieve its long term goals under a strong management team. Indada as a music industry was founded by Matt Siegel and Dan Zaccagnino and have shown rapid growth within a duration of one year. The objective of Indaba was to come up with a serious place where session musicians could interact with other talented musicians having in mind the goal of creating a newly piece of music which would show their talent in music industry. Leadership team was working well and they had to hire chief marketing officer who was to plan how marketing of the Indaba as a music industry was reaching the audience and making sure that they were going to compete stiffly with other music rivals. The aim of marketing Indaba was to make difference with other music industries in the online music arena. Strategic information systems and values that can be used in online music arena For any organization to be successful in online music arena, it must incorporate an information systems structure that helps to manage business activities and assist in decision making. The information system structures will help in data collection and make sure that data in the music industry is processed the way the management team requires it. In Indaba music industry, they have to set a strategy that is based on how the music industry is going to compete with other industries, having in mind the goal of members to know their talents in music industry. In my opinion Indaba can use strategic level in the information system management that shows how the managers in the music industry will address the unstructured decision using the technology acceptance model. Strategic level system helps the senior managers with unstructured problems that will require a lot of capital to be fully implemented. One of the key aspects that will make Indaba music industry to be more competitive is the use of technology. Through the adoption of strategic level system (SLS) Indaba will remain at the top in the music industry. Key advantage is the financial system that is going to be used, which is going to be computerized. This means that the operation of Indaba as a music industry is going to be easier. The only disadvantage is that the system may be prone to hackers and have Indaba business strategies being known by the rivals. The use of data encryption can be used to overcome the problem of hackers and making sure that the password security key will be changed within a short time of use. On the other hand Indaba can still adopt management level that will make sure that members have been combined together so that they will accomplish the set goals and make use of available resources in efficient and effective manner. For Indaba in the music industry to achieve its goals, it will have to use other business management functions such as planning, organizing, staffing, monitoring, and motivation. Due to the use of functions of management they will have advantage of achieving their objective within a short time of period since each and every function of management will have a manager. Another advantage is that responsibility is given to experts who have experience in the field they operate on. The only disadvantage that Indaba music industry is going to experience is fund consumption since they have to hire more top managers. Indaba music industry will have to use the knowledge level that is based on the goals of management team. The managers have to come up with long term and short term goals that can be achieved at this level. The knowledge level will consist of the information the management team will have to use to come up with goals that have never been achieved in Indaba music industry (Allen, 1980). The advantage of knowledge level in Indaba music industry is that modern technology is going to be used. For example, computers are going to be used to record their lyrics thus making the entire system successful. The only disadvantage is that knowledge level will consume a lot of time. Lastly Indaba music industry will have to consider operational level of management that will ensure that managers have the information concerning the music and the need to make decisions that are based on music industry. The lower level managers are provided with relevant information concerning the music industry and they have to supervise accordingly since they can require vital information concerning Indaba and immediate access should be guaranteed. The managers play a vital role since they have to monitor all the webcasting software that is going to be used to broadcast the reports and other vital information concerning Indaba. How to enhance business processes using information systems in indaba music industry In indaba music industry, they have to use business processes that will be enhanced by information systems, workflows of materials, information, set of activities and steps that are going to be used in webcasting. For example, in Indaba they will come up with the website designers and programmers to code so that the website can be more attractive to the audience. The businesses processes that are going to be used must be computerized to ensure information system are conducted in a more efficient manner. One of the advantages of business processes is that it indicates how workflows are outlined like in this case of Indaba how you compose a song then understand it and lastly to come up with a tune and a dancing style. Another advantage is that business processes will have to use the information concerning music industry on the current emerging issues like piracy one of the challenges that is being experienced in music industry. Enterprise systems Enterprise systems in Indaba music industry are large scale application software that will support the music processes, how the music flows, reporting, and data analysis in complex music production. The enterprise systems allow information to be shared throughout the organization and this will help to integrate business activities, like in Indaba music industry this will make sure that customer services are going to be improved. Business processes are series of steps that can be used by any organization to come up with the objectives or the goal. For example the outcome of the musical session that was initiated in Indaba was to come up with a newly piece of music that was created by the members. An enterprise business process of Indaba music industry can be illustrated as; d Indaba music industry is where talented artists have ample opportunities to exploit their talents. When the artists join the music industry they have to take time to compose the music while still looking for the producers. After getting the producer they have to release the music to the public and finally to post it to the website. The structure above shows how business process has to take time before you get your goals. Implementing information system To implement information systems is going to be expensive since they have not known the benefits of the music to the individuals and if the music will be accepted by the community. The challenges that make information systems not to be implemented are that managers who have little management skills will always lead to downfall of information system. The other challenge that makes it hard to implement information system is poor use of proper implementation methodologies. One of the best ways to implement information system is sensitizing users about the system in advance, to know the benefit of system and learn it. For example, in the Indaba music industry before they develop the website where they are going to advertise the company they have to make people know about it first. Explanation Sauer’s model Sauer’s has been critic of all information system models though they have been popular in the organizations; Sauer’s have been regarding other models as information system failures. According to him any system should be a failure when it does not work to the intended purpose, leaving the users dissatisfied with the extent of making sure that it has served their interest for a short duration. This means that any system should not be termed as failure until it accomplishes its objective in information system. According to him, any machine that ceases to work must have worked for a short duration and thereafter it experienced a termination failure. Sauer’s came up with a model of information system failure that portrayed information system as a process that used three components; project organization, the information system, and its supporters. He argues that the three components depends on each other for it performance, the information system must depend on project organization, project organization will still depend on supporters and finally the supporters will depend on information system. For the success of the model the stakeholder must be fully involved in the system. The stakeholders are the one who are going to use the system and so they have to be part and parcel of the system. E-Business and E-Commerce Electronic business is how information and communication (ICT) will be used by Indaba music industry to support all the activities. Indaba will make sure that its products and services to the people and other business groups will be carried online. On the other hand E- Commerce will still use information and communication technology that will enable the support of online business tools. Virtual Organization (VO) in Electronic Business will mean that independent companies like Indaba will have its role connected to communication links so that the organization will be able to share its skills, competence and have the ability to access new markets. Likewise, Indaba will have to consider value chain model where they will have to take actions that are based on their business so that they can create and deliver the products. Value chain model entails the steps that are going to be followed when buying a product from website starts from selecting the product, purchase from manufacturer, taking it to the display, market and advertise the product, and lastly the product goes to the clients (Levine, 2009). Online communities can be managed by sensitizing people to adopt the online business transactions. Most people will share knowledge online so as to act as a social media; the governments can still encourage online communities by making sure that all transactions are carried through online communication. Conclusion Indaba as a music industry has based its business transactions on E- Commerce and has shown a lot of improvements since business transactions are increasing and thus marketing the industry. Indaba has introduced a community based innovation where they state clear that for them to have successes in their music industry they must have relationship with all the stakeholders. Due to online sharing of services Indaba have digital competitors who contend with online retailers. They have a website which the customers can use to download music directly thus making Indaba to be most preferred by online customers. References Allen, N.1980. The Knowledge Level.
