The paper "Work-Life Balance and Its Importance for Society" is a perfect example of a management essay. This paper gives readers a glimpse of the realities of the crippling effects of imbalance work and life activities. It tells the readers these effects really do exist, contrary to the popular belief that they are only fictional. Readers would learn from reading this paper ways lack of balance between work and personal activities can deprive them of satisfaction and happiness. Consequently, they would learn tips on how to balance these two significant components in their lives.

Introduction People would have to agree that employees need to have a balance between the time they spend on employment-related and leisurely/personal activities. Based from personal experiences and the stories people hear from others on their experiences in life, people do not find contentment in life most of the time when they are deprived of balance in the time they spend working and doing things with a circle of influences and for fun (i.e., leisurely activities). People have realized that spending more time at work than at home creates dissatisfaction in the best personal life one could ever have (Mayoclinic Staff, 2010).

However, regardless if people give in too much or too little time on work, the accompanying effects are the dangers of incurring stress-related experiences (Mayoclinic Staff, 2010).Working people can still have the best satisfaction at work and at home, or anywhere else where they do things for fun by balancing the time they spend working and having fun or relaxing (Mayoclinic Staff, 2010). The first step in doing so is determining their priorities in life, then working through taking care of these priorities before anything else (Mayoclinic Staff, 2010).

The following are the appropriate definitions of work-life balance, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003): -Work-life balance is a group of words that are not meant to be taken literally, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003). The amount of time people spend at work and at home varies each day, and does not necessarily mean they have to be equal. For instance, people may spend more time at work for a month or two when requested by management to work overtime for a while during the time a colleague is on vacation or maternity leave.

On the other hand, when a person is able to take the annual vacation benefit they receive from his/her employer, that person is able to forget about work for a month or two. -The time needed to balance work and life may be modified depending on the changes in life people undergo, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003). When people date, marry, cohabitate, or have children, the time they devote to work and doing personal activities mostly change or undergo partial modifications, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003). They mostly need more time doing personal activities when they have significant others and/or have children as compared to times when they only have themselves to worry about, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003). Having other people to be concerned about entails more time to be spent with them, and also equally balance more time to devote to work to earn more money necessary to support any significant others, whenever the need arises.

-Work life balance does not constantly mean perfection of equal balance, Work-Life Balance Defined (Anon., 2003). The equal balance generally depends on how things modify day by day. It is common knowledge that change accompanies life. The following are the suggested tips to better able to balance work and life activities (Rauh, 2010): -Determine the foremost factor that is the most important in people’s lives (Rauh, 2010). Being able to do so would help tremendously in being able to accomplish goals that are of the utmost importance before anything else.

-Stop engaging in unnecessary activities (Rauh, 2010). This would help reduce stress in people’s lives as well as to capacitate them to devote more time accomplishing goals that are of utmost importance. -Value private time with loved ones (Rauh, 2010). The most significant factor in making loved ones feel their preciousness despite the fact people also have to take time off from them due to career-related activities is to make efforts in valuing private moments with them. Among the leading professions in the world, today which makes it easier for people to balance work and life activities is the new technological advent of working virtually, through the use of a computer and a mouse (Panao, s.y.).

More and more people are now discovering the rewards of having more time to spend with loved ones by working at home, while at the same time, being capable of earning a decent living. Numerous efforts have also been taken to protect these career seekers in this field to be scammed by scrupulous online companies. One of the most prominent issues in the work and life balance arena for college students is the ability to balance time spent on studies and doing personal activities (McMillan & Weyers, 2006).

They mostly struggle in achieving this goal when exerting efforts to succeed in university education by relying on their desire to improve their capacity to learn while at the same time giving the quality time they need to give to their loved ones (McMillan & Weyers, 2006).
