Extract of sample "Taras Shevchenkos Poem My Testament"

The opening and closing statements have a lasting impression of a testament about to happen because of the non-response from God. It is a poem of an individual, who has lost hope in both life and God, hence seeking suicide as a last option.

The bewitched is a profound description of habits and behaviour. In as much as it creates a connection between fantasy and reality, it is apparent that a fearful mood dominates the poem. The opening statement gives a descriptive account of the environment instilling fear in the readers. For example, in the third line, the ground howls fiercely raising fears of the imagination. The irregular rhyme scheme dominating the poem creates a rhythmic flow in understanding what constitutes an enchanted woman. The poem uses nature to bring into light different aspects of a bewitched woman. Culture is a dominant theme in the poem creating a great sensation. Last but importantly, the use of cacophony creates ideas of freedom and isolation.
