Understanding Results and Discussion Sections This type of research design was a correlational research, as no variable was manipulated. The experimenter had the participants, males and females, look at sex-stereotypical items. The participants had to remember the items, only to be shown them later. At that time, they were asked to identify what items were sex-stereotypical of the male or female.2. The variables in this assignment were the two genders, and the students being college students (roughly around the age of 20).

The students themselves, genders and ages, were the independent variables.3. They used a statistical test involving correlation.4. The results in Figure 1 showed that males had an easier time at remembering items of a masculine sex-stereotype then they did at remembering items of a feminine sex-stereotype. However, they remembered more feminine items than the females did. The females were equal in remembering items of both masculine and feminine. 5. The hypotheses that were supported were that females would be better at remembering things of a feminine nature, as opposed to males remembering them.

Likewise, males would be better at remembering things of a masculine nature, as opposed to the females. It was also supported that females would receive higher scores on the tasks presented to them in comparison to the males.6. The hypotheses that were not supported were that females and males would be pretty equal in remembering the things that they did. The final outcome of the research assignment, scores and theories and all, were not expected, nor supported.7. The implications of the study were that females were better at remembering sex-stereotypical things than males.

This means that females were more able to recognize objects as being feminine or masculine. The study was to test gender difference, thinking that the difference would be seen through memory.8. No limitations were mentioned throughout this study.
