Racism with law enforcement and gun violence in America Racism with law enforcement The issue of racism in law enforcement is a critical issue, and that is why it is an important issue. Law enforcement agents are important contributors to the spread of the problem. Law enforcement stipulates that most of the people associated in crime are black men (Jonas 27). The thought of black men being associated with crime is deeply racist. Opinionated people are of the view that police are the primary source of racism in the US (Jonas 29).

For example, there have been major shootings of black male civilians walking within their neighborhoods by white policemen. The main reason they give for the shooting is that since the victim was black, he looked suspicious. Racism continues to poison social relations of many people in the United States (Jonas 28). The black people in particular are referred to as the enemy. The police officers are the first to patch the allegations to the black people. Crime is a socio-economic factor that should not be used to build racial injustices among the people.

Crime will remain to be an everyday phenomenon due to poverty levels (Jonas 30). Therefore, it is important for people to embrace the fight against racism in order to fight the socioeconomic challenges engulfing the people. The recent strategy to train law enforcement on how to handle crime is a step that will facilitate cooling down of the racial discrimination. The training creates meaningful interactions across races. Integrating racial history into the K-12 curriculum will continue to create opportunities that will foster significant student interactions across the different races.

Education has been placed on the forefront to changing both the police and the public on how to view different races (Jonas 31). Gun violenceGun violence is specifically common in the poor neighborhoods in the United States. It is frequently allied with gang violence. Statistics indicates that it often involves male juveniles or young adult males. The often cited cause for gun violence is the drug market. It is an urgent, complex and multifaceted problem (Webster 13). There are several reasons why gun violence is on the rampant.

One of the reasons is that the today children are more prone to violence due to the content they watch on TV and the games they play. Under this issue, an important aspect is how the children are raised. There is barely enough family time to inspect the growth of children (Webster 14). Therefore, they end up adopting dangerous behaviors and violence. Some people are prone to violence due to their poor social habits and skills. The most enticing factor is the legalization to have arms. The fact that having a gun is legalized makes it easy for many people to acquire and have them (Webster 15).

Consequently, gun violence rise because people do not want to sit and solve issues on sober grounds. The erosion of respect for others and social values leads to hardening of the problem. Measures should be developed to address the prevalent issues of gun violence. Establishing culture of gun safety will lower the level of gun violence (Webster 15-16). The factor of ensuring every gun owner is licensed will ensure that there is accountability on the use of these weapons. There should be a mental examination for those who want to posses’ guns before they are allowed.

Per se, the move will reduce the chances of mentally ill people accomplishing their fantasies through gun violence (Webster 16).Works CitedJonas, Gilbert.
